Welcome!

We thought it was time for St. Lucians and other stakeholders to come, work and move forward together. But in order to do that, we all need to know what is actually happening in St. Lucia. So we are here to provide a service to the St. Lucia community, by providing up to date, relevant and objective news and information about St. Lucia Estuary, South Africa.

If anything happens in St. Lucia , many stories start to go around. We hope, through professional journalism, to separate fact from fiction, to bring you the objective truth without choosing sides. That is what journalism is all about. If you've heard anything and want to know what really happened, send us an email (TamlynHead@gmail.com) and we'll investigate what's actually going on, and provide our findings in an objective manner on this site. Make sure you subscribe to this blog by leaving your email address on the right of this page, so whenever a new news item is published, you get to know about it.

As an additional service, we offer a business directory, an agenda of activities organised in St. Lucia, as well as an up to date listing of employment and housing opportunities.

In other words, if you wanna know what's really happening in St. Lucia, this is the place to look at!

Further extension to Rhino Club programme

Following recent correspondence with KZN Wildlife, we have been informed that the current Rhino Club programme will run until end March 2014.

According to KZN Wildlife, the "regrettable delays" have "come about as [a] result of our efforts to fine-tune the Loyalty Programme to deliver the best possible product to you, our valued users. In the interim, we have resolved to extend  the current arrangement in order to accommodate your needs during the holiday season".

While the monthly Rhino Club newsletters fail to mention this most recent extension to the programme and still show it as coming to an end this month, current members are "encouraged" to renew their Rhino Cards and will be able to do so at a cost of R412.50 (R250 for members over the age of 60). The renewed card will, once again, be in the form of a temporary permit sent to members by email but, rest assured, members will be able to enjoy the same benefits as before (free entry into KZN Wildlife parks, R5pp conservation levy at iSimangaliso gates and all Leatherbacks discounts).

St Lucia News remains in the dark regarding the new scheme due to commence on 1 April 2014, however, we aim to keep the St Lucia Community abreast of all new information we receive.
