Welcome!

We thought it was time for St. Lucians and other stakeholders to come, work and move forward together. But in order to do that, we all need to know what is actually happening in St. Lucia. So we are here to provide a service to the St. Lucia community, by providing up to date, relevant and objective news and information about St. Lucia Estuary, South Africa.

If anything happens in St. Lucia , many stories start to go around. We hope, through professional journalism, to separate fact from fiction, to bring you the objective truth without choosing sides. That is what journalism is all about. If you've heard anything and want to know what really happened, send us an email (TamlynHead@gmail.com) and we'll investigate what's actually going on, and provide our findings in an objective manner on this site. Make sure you subscribe to this blog by leaving your email address on the right of this page, so whenever a new news item is published, you get to know about it.

As an additional service, we offer a business directory, an agenda of activities organised in St. Lucia, as well as an up to date listing of employment and housing opportunities.

Dorp van die Jaar / Town of the Year Competition 2012

In this annual competition hosted by KykNet and Rapport, the general public is called on to vote for their favourite town in South Africa. There are no special requirements in order for a town to be voted for, and voters need not live in the town of their voting choice.

In the provincial round of the competition, five towns (currently unknown) in KwaZulu-Natal will be nominated and announced this Saturday, 14 April. This nomination means that the general public will then be able to vote for their favourite town from KZN, or any other province, for that matter. Voting will commence on 15 April and end on 24 April. Finalists from each province will then be put forward for the next round of voting, countrywide, in July.  The town with the most votes will be crowned KykNet & Rapport's Dorp van die Jaar/Town of the Year 2012 in August. The winning town receives a prize of R2 million worth of marketing on KykNet and in Rapport (R1M from each).

Be sure to check KykNet and Rapport this weekend to see if St Lucia has been nominated for the provincial round of voting and if it has, be sure to cast as many votes as possible and get as many people voting as possible. The number for SMS voting will be published on St Lucia News once nominations have been announced and if St Lucia is on the list.

The St Lucia Community is well aware that St Lucia is undoubtedly the best place to live in South Africa, so let's make it official.
